Above Ground Pool. I am having a get together this weekend. The temp is going to drop into the mid 60’s. I hate to deal with the plastic solar covers (and I don’t think they work all that well). I would consider a black tube solar heating system but don’t know how effective they are. Are there any chemicals that will do it? What about the solar fish that leaks os Isopropyl Alcohol? I don’t want to spend a ton…as I hope to get a heater next season
besides are you replacing gas or electric water heater. i want to start looking into them now although i wont be buying one till the parents christmas of tax rebate season.
so what type of gas one should i be looking into?
or since i live in a state that boast 300 + days of sunshine go with a solar one?
I want to charge up to a 12 volt battery. How long can I use a heater and refrigerator?
How would you do it?
And will it be enough to run a heater in the winter and a air conditioner in the summer?

I just purchased a 130,000 BTU pool heater for my pool which is 12,000 gal and it has a surfice feet of 452.
I was going to use a 120 gal tank, but the LP gas man told me that I would burn that up on the initial heat-up and would then need to be refill.
Does that sound right? That seems like it would be using a lot of gas. Can anyone tell me how much gas I might use in a season or how much gas I would use in a month?
I will be using a solar cover and I am only looing for an increase of 5 to 6 degress increase in water tempeture.
Thanks for your help!!
Theres a solar power operated water heater. If this solar collector has area of 6.7m^2 and the power from the sun is 530 W/m^2, how long (in SECONDS) should it take to raise the temperature of 1.0m^3 of water from 26 degrees C to 69 degrees C?
Im confused… this is my last resort other than failure..don’t know where to start… very stressed in general so this may be simple Idon’t know but Im 100% clueless. So please any help at all would be greatly appreciated
Martin M got it right, THANK YOU! I have been working on these for days and really want to cry about now. Once it lets me I shall pick you as best answer. =)
I recently bought a house with very old solar panels (about 25 years old) that don’t appear to work properly. They are supposed to heat the hot water heater but they don’t always work, and recently have staretd leaking. So, I have had them turned off and now we’re just using electricity to heat the hot water. My question is, is there any tax credit money (stimulus or otherwise) available for people to (a) repair old solar panels or (b) replace them with new ones? How does the credit work?
The most common seem to be the OBlue and Intex 3kw heaters. Are these compatible with the standard pump that comes with the Bestway 10ft Fast Set Pool? How quick do they raise the temperature? What do they cost to run? Is it worth getting a solar cover to try and retain some of the heat when not in use? Are they really worth it for casual use? Anyone used any of these or similar?
Any advise appreciated.
