Above Ground Pool. I am having a get together this weekend. The temp is going to drop into the mid 60’s. I hate to deal with the plastic solar covers (and I don’t think they work all that well). I would consider a black tube solar heating system but don’t know how effective they are. Are there any chemicals that will do it? What about the solar fish that leaks os Isopropyl Alcohol? I don’t want to spend a ton…as I hope to get a heater next season

I want to purchase a solar heater for my above ground pool it is round and 24 feet. Does anyone know if they really work? I cannot find many reviews online.

We have a 15X30 above ground pool and would like some info from people who already have a solar heater.

How many degrees does the temp of your pool water go up from May-September?

Our pool is in the sun most of the day. Unfortunately our neighbor’s tree blocks the sun from part of our pool right in the middle of the day. We’re considering a solar heater and don’t know if it would do much to help since our entire roof doesn’t get sun all day (1 half gets sun part of the day, the other half the other part of the day; same with our yard). There are only a couple of dealers on L.I. that install pool solar heaters. The 1 we got an estimate from didn’t do anything to survey our yard to see if it is suitable for the solar heater.

I’d rather have a solar heater but I’m also strongly leaning toward a heat pump since I haven’t been convinced that the temperature of our pool water will rise more than 4 degrees above what it was last summer (didn’t get above 80 the whole summer.

I have an above ground pool and I’m about to fill it up.
How can I get the water to get hot quickly without a water heater?

I have a solar blanket but I have a feeling it isn’t going to do much to cold hose water.

I remember reading somewhere that you could make your own above ground pool solar heater using pvc piping installed on the ground in a sunny area or on a roof. Does anyone know anything about this or can you direct me to a site that is more detailed about how to do this? I would appreciate any help.

I have a rectangular above ground pool 12 x 20 and need to get a heater. I was hoping to get some advice on the type of heater I should get. I live in Ohio and the nights are often cool, thus cooling the water back down during the night. We don’t have natural gas and I am not sure how expensive a propane heater is to run. Also, do solar heaters work well in an area where the nights are cool? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Thank you for your response. Many people in NY with above ground pools who use heat pumps and gas heaters also use solar covers when their pool is not in use to keep the heat in.

I really just want to know who has a solar heater and how many degrees the pool water increases.

I have a 10k gallon above ground pool that is only in the sun about half the day. I would like tips on how to heat it quicker without a gas heater. I am considering getting a solar heater, but I’m not sure how good they are. Any advice on solar heaters? Are the 0 solar heaters any good?

I have a solar cover. Should I put it on now while the pool is cold to heat it up quicker or should I wait for the pool to heat up and then put it on to keep the heat in?

I have several holes that need repair in a solar heater for my above ground pool. I understand that there are kits that have plugs to stop the leaking but is there another way? Has anyone used these plugs and do they work well? I would say I have at least 8 leaks. Thanks!
